Luseri / Guides
A SASI alternative that stays inside Shopify's rules
The Shopify App Store Index followed the position, rating and review count of your apps. It belonged to Mantle, which is winding down. Here is how Luseri covers the same ground, and where it draws a line.
Updated
What you get
| You want to follow | How Luseri does it |
|---|---|
| Your rank in your category | Read every day from the full category list, as Shopify shows it to a visitor who is not signed in. The first 192 apps are scanned; beyond that the rank is reported as further down. |
| Your rating and reviews | The reviews of your listing, the split by number of stars, and the rating and review count over the past year, rebuilt from the review dates. |
| Your competitors | Up to six listings: rating, reviews, entry price, category rank, and reviews gained in 30 days once a month of readings exists. |
| Listing changes | What changed in the name, the plans and the categories of your listing and of the ones you watch, day by day. |
| Search | The searches that brought merchants to your listing, your position when they clicked, by country and language, with install clicks and confirmed installs. Read from your own Google Analytics. |
The line we do not cross
Tracking an arbitrary keyword, or a competitor's position on a keyword, means running App Store searches every day on your behalf. Shopify's robots.txt asks robots not to read search results (Disallow: *q=*), and we follow it. So Luseri does not offer that.
What you get instead is narrower but real: the terms merchants actually typed before opening your listing. A keyword nobody clicked through does not appear, and competitors' search positions are not visible.
Where the history starts
Category rank and listing changes start the day you add your listing. Review history is rebuilt from the dates of the reviews themselves, so it goes back further. Search terms go back up to a year if your Google Analytics was already connected to your listing.
Questions
- Do I need a Shopify Partner login for the App Store part?
- No. Reviews, category rank, competitors and listing changes come from public listing pages: you paste the address of your listing. Revenue and installs do need your Partner account.
- How often is the App Store read?
- Once a day per page, by a robot that identifies itself. Public data is shared: a listing followed by ten accounts is read once.
- Are ads counted in my category rank?
- No. The rank is your place in the organic list of the category.
